It’s Not A Waste Of Time

So, you’ve been praying but see no results and are ready to throw in the towel.  Slow down there… Don’t you know only fools give God a time frame?  You want your circumstance to change, but what about what God wanted from you… how long did it take you to change your ways?  And tell me again, how long have you waited on him?  Does it even come close to his waiting period?  Don’t be selfish… sometimes we are in these situations for a reason.  Change does not happen by sitting around.  And it surely does not present itself by daydreaming either.  Get out there and make yourself useful while you are waiting on the Lord.  Some people expect but do nothing in return.  And if they do, they do it for a short time and give up.  If you can give up on God that fast, then you were never really there for him in the first place.  You were never after his heart, you were after gain.  God cannot be mocked, nor can he be used.  I have had friends watch what God has done for me, and they immediately want the same.  I never turned to GOD for gain for a short period and decided,” he is not answering me so I’m giving up.”  I would have gone to any length just to have him… I had no desire in anything else at the time but him.  I wanted to get right spiritually first before I wanted anything else.  While people were starting families, buying homes, hanging out… I was in my word day and night…crying, alone, begging, and doing whatever I could to feel close to him.  They don’t realize the patience I had to have.  I too, started off wanting God because I wanted answers but as the months went by, I realized how much I actually wanted God and not the answers.  I went out there and did some works to help my faith… not that works gets me to heaven but because it helped me with my faith.  I stayed busy in his word.  I wanted to be wherever I though he was at that time…in school, in church, in shelters, hospitals, with family…on the streets.  I wasn’t knocking on the door…I was banging on it… screaming…,” open up!!!”  I wasn’t hanging out with friends…I was hanging out with the word.  There comes a time in everyone’s life that they need to think long and hard about what they really want out of life… but not just life…what do you want after this life?  When you begin to realize how fast time passes, you understand your priorities a little different.  You should have a job and support yourself… you should get married and have kids, if its for you.  Being in Christ doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your life, it means you prioritize things a little differently then you did before.  You do not take God for granted, you learn to put him first…then everything else will fall into place.  But God also doesn’t call anyone to be lazy… go get a job and work… God made Adam so he could take care of the garden.  Start a family…travel… love people… get a car… do whatever you need too…belonging to God isn’t boring.  People have this idea that Christ is boring…and I’m here to tell you… it’s the opposite.  Christ sets you free.

Be patient, seek God… but if your bible is closed… don’t expect to much.  If you are ready to throw in the towel, just know, God knows that too.  He didn’t give up on you so easy…so why give up on him.

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
